Lesson 2: Video Calling – FaceTime for iPhone, Google Duo for Android

Using FaceTime for iPhone

FaceTime is an additional software that is available on iPhones, which enables its users to have an audio or a video call with the other Apple devices.

To set up FaceTime

1. Open the FaceTime app
2. Sign in to your Apple Account
3. For iPhone users, to register their phone number your phone number will likely become registered automatically.

To make a FaceTime call

1. Open the FaceTime app
2. Tap New FaceTime
3. Input this with the format either as a phone number or email address
4. Tap the number or address
5. Tap the Audio or FaceTime button

Installing Duo on Your Phone
Duo tends to be available on iPhones and Androids.

Step 1: Sign up to Duo

Your phone will get a verification code after you sign up.

Step 2: Phone number verification
You can skip phone number verification. Without this step, you must connect to Google.

Learning about verified numbers.

• Enter your phone number and verify it on iOS.
• Tap Yes.
• Duo will send a one-time SMS code to your phone. Rates may apply for carrier text messages.
• Enter the text message code.
• Tap Resend SMS if you don’t get a text.
• Tap Call me to call if you have a mobile connection and aren’t getting the SMS.
• If you still have issues validating your phone number, see verification troubleshooting.

Step 3: Link your Google account
Accept to link your Google account. To complete setup, sign in using your Google Account if you currently use Duo on another device.

After linking Duo to Google:

• You may use Duo on several devices.
• People with your phone number or Google Account details, such your Gmail address, can call you on Duo.
• Add or deactivate your Google Account from Duo anytime.
